President Addresses Defense Forces of Georgia
The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, addressed the Georgian military servicemen and commanders on peacekeeping missions from the Military Management Center, and congratulated them on Georgian Defense Forces Day.
"You have been the backbone of the state for 29 years. This state has grown and developed with you and has risen to the occasion before the international community.
"The world is changing. Georgia has faced the big challenge facing the world very successfully at the first stage, but there are many more difficult stages ahead. Your role is very important at this difficult time.
"You have shone a spotlight on Georgia with your professionalism both domestically and internationally in missions. This is acknowledged by all our partners. Thus, you are the face and pride of this state, thank you very much for that.
"We should remember today our heroes who died for our homeland, who are also participants in our future successes.
"We cannot disrespect our veterans, who unfortunately do not have the status in our country and definitely should have, but this is the wish of all of us, because a strong army does not exist without strong veterans.
"Thank you all very much. Let's continue our common struggle and pay our debt to the homeland and the nation," said the President.
Today, Zurabishvili, together with the Prime Minister, the Chairman of Parliament and the Minister of Defense, laid flowers at the memorial to the heroes of the victims of Georgia's territorial integrity.
