Steinmeier Accesses Georgian Gov't's Effort to Fight against COVID-19

The President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili held a phone conversation with the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The press service of the President disseminates the information.

The Presidents discussed the situation in Georgia and Germany regarding the coronavirus.

The President of Georgia thanked Germany for providing medical services and appropriate assistance to Georgian citizens in the country during the pandemic.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier praised the Georgian government's efforts highly to fight against the COVID-19 infection.

The President of Georgia gave comprehensive information to Frank-Walter Steinmeier on the current situation in Georgia and noted that the measures taken by the Georgian government against coronavirus are successful and effective.

The presidents spoke about the importance of creating a vaccine against coronavirus and its universal availability. It was noted that the vaccine should be available to everyone and not just for rich countries.

The need for the gradual opening of the economy in the conditions of a pandemic and generally need and importance of the functioning of the economy were also discussed. The Presidents of Georgia and Germany discussed the issues of intensifying cooperation in the development of tourism.

The President of Georgia briefed his German counterpart on the process of borderization and noted that today there is a difficult humanitarian situation in the occupied territories of Georgia in the need of universal, international solidarity.

Salome Zurabishvili noted that Germany sets an example of solidarity with the international community.
