Ex-Foreign Minister to be Appointed Georgia’s Ambassador to the UK

Georgia’s ex-Foreign Minister Tamar Beruchashvili is expected to be appointed Georgia’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The Foreign Ministry has confirmed that the candidacy has been presented and will pass all the relevant procedures before appointment to office.

Currently, Revaz Gachechiladze represents Georgia in the UK as Georgia’s Special and Plenipotentiary Ambassador. The MFA has stated Gachechiladze will continue working as a diplomat.

Tamar Beruchashvili has occupied a number of diverse position at the MFA, including offices as Deputy Foreign Minister and the Minister itself. In August 2015 Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the current Foreign Minister replaced Beruchashvili.
