President of Cyprus Calls on European Council, European Commission to Support Georgia
President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades has urged President of the European Council, Mr. Charles Michel, and the President of the European Commission, Mrs. Ursula von der Leyen, to stand by Georgia and extend further the Union’s support for the Eastern Partnership countries, the Administration of the President of Georgia reports.
Based on the information of the Administration, Nicos Anastasiades sent a letter to President Salome Zurabishvili.
“Despite the significant allocation of the EU funds for the most immediate needs of Georgia, as well as the redirection of the use of existing instruments in order to mitigate the impact of the outbreak in Georgia and in addition to the European Commission’s upcoming proposal to the ENI Committee, I encouraged their considering more proposals and thematic relaxations for our immediate neighbors like Georgia.
"I have also underlined the importance of convening the Summit between the EU and the Eastern Partnership countries, even in the form of a videoconference, in order to discuss these important issues,” the letter reads.
