PM: Partnership between Georgia, the US has Never Been Stronger
"Georgia is a loyal ally of the United States," Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said after a telephone conversation with US Senator David Perdue.
The Prime Minister thanked the US Congress for its strong support for Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
“Spoke with Senator David Perdue about the close cooperation between our 2 great nations and evolving dynamics of GEO-US partnership, which has never been stronger. Georgia is America's loyal ally. We appreciate Congress’ vocal support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity”, the PM emphasized.
The talks focused on the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States and the further expansion of cooperation in such important areas as defense and security, trade and economy.
Senator Perdue noted that support for Georgia's national interests and security issues will be provided at the legislative level - in the US Defense Authorization Act, which reaffirms the strong support of the US Congress towards Georgia.
The sides discussed the deteriorating security and humanitarian situation in the occupied territories of Georgia. Senator Perdue confirmed the strong support of the US Congress for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and noted that it remains a loyal friend of our country.
During the telephone conversation, special attention was paid to the importance of the security of the Black Sea to ensure the stable development of the region and the important role of Georgia in this direction.
The head of the government thanked the United States for its funding to strengthen the public health system and the fight against COVID-19 in Georgia, which includes support to the Lugar Laboratory and the National Center for Disease Control.
