PM: I'd Like to Thank all Medical Specialists for their Professional Performance

This year has been especially challenging for the Health Ministry and our healthcare system, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia told the press after today’s presentation of the latest report by the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs.

The Head of Government thanked all medical specialists for their dedication, effective and highly professional performance in the past 4 months.

“As you know, this Ministry is in charge of protecting health, providing social assistance, regulating issues related to labor, our refugees, public healthcare, and many other areas. It is vitally important to our country, a systemic institution that has presented its report today. Once again, I would like to thank all employees of this sector, all doctors, for their dedication, effective and highly professional performance in the past 4 months, ultimately enabling us all, the country together with our citizens, to deal with and effectively control the COVID-19 infection,” the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister also replied to a question about labor legislation.

According to Giorgi Gakharia, the Government is doing everything to make sure that relevant legislation is well balanced.

“We all must cooperate with business to make sure that the new labor law simplifies—and not complicates—life for business, also cementing our social environment and corporate social responsibility. We have discussed this issue at length, and we can state that we are doing everything to make sure that this legislation is well balanced. We will also discuss what can be amended in the bill referred to Parliament,” Giorgi Gakharia said.

The Prime Minister also replied to a question about the Government’s economic post-crisis plan.

According to the Head of Government, the plan for economic recovery must be balanced perfectly, and it must rely on both our current reality and the country’s competitive advantages.

“Georgia’s economic policy will not change, though it will grow in effectiveness. We are negotiating with various economic platform groups, and it has been done consciously to make sure that our further post-crisis medium- and long-term economic recovery plan is perfectly balanced, taking into account both our current reality and the country’s competitive advantages. Georgia has immense transit potential, and we must be even more effective in using it. We can manufacture many things, and that is what we will do. Our trade balance is advancing further into the positive, and we have excellent enormous transit potential. Most importantly, we have highly intellectual human resources poised to create the biggest added value,” Giorgi Gakharia stated.
