PM on Resumption of Regular Flights: Our Citizens' Health, Safety is Most Important
"We will be cautious but consistent, considering the safety and health of our citizens and our country’s guests alike, as well as the importance of our country’s economic recovery," Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia stated at today’s Cabinet meeting.
The PM noted that the government is taking careful, consistent steps, as evidenced by the Foreign Ministry, acting on relevant instructions, holding negotiations that have resulted in the upcoming reopening of Georgia’s borders to the citizens of 5 partner countries.
“A few days ago, the EU listed Georgia among 15 safe countries, and that demonstrates appreciation for the joint efforts of our citizens and the country as a whole. At the same time, it also places enormous responsibility on us, firstly to our citizens and also to the citizens of our partner countries. That is why we are taking consistent steps, as evidenced by the Foreign Ministry, acting on relevant instructions, holding negotiations that have resulted in the upcoming reciprocal reopening of Georgia’s borders to the citizens of 5 partner countries. And that applies to direct flights.” Giorgi Gakharia said.
The PM said that the Foreign Ministry continues similar negotiations with all our partner countries.
“The health and safety of our citizens is what matters to us most, and the steps in question reinforce control over the spread of the virus, another important precondition for further economic development and recovery. That is why we will be cautious but consistent, considering the safety and health of our citizens and our country’s guests alike, as well as, the importance of our country’s economic recovery,” Gakharia emphasized.
