Georgian Pianist Luka Okros to Perform in the Netherlands

On July 17, 2020, after 4 months of pause, Georgian Pianist Luka Okros will perform in one of the first post-quarantine live concerts with the attendance of the audience.

The TivoliVredenburg, a contemporary music complex located in the Netherlands, will hold an exceptional classical music event, practicing social distancing. The originally planned Wonderfeel Festival, which is an annual music festival, had to be canceled due to COVID-19, however, the organizers of the Festival found courage and possibility to arrange the concert inviting young musicians of Wonderfeel Festival Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Johannes Leertouwer and Georgian pianist Luka Okros to perform in a modern, nearly 2000-seat hall, reduced to the capacity of only 400 people due to the restrictions.

The music industry is under huge pressure, as the majority of venues are forced to stay shut down or practice social distancing - for most of them an unimaginable luxury, as some may experience a great financial crisis or even bankruptcy.

It’s a very difficult time for musicians, who miss the stage and the audience. Among the musicians, who are affected by pandemics, is a young Georgian concert pianist Luka Okros. Since his last concert in March at the London Bechtein Series, more than 20 concerts have been canceled or postponed, including performances in Amsterdam, Helsinki, Budapest, Berlin, Paris, and Tbilisi, as well as recordings for the BBC Radio and Radio France.

Social media star with more than 72K followers on Instagram is a model to follow up and hope for a more optimistic future for young artists like him. He is constantly in touch with his public, posting not only inspiring content but also establishing online individual and group zoom lecture classes every week.

Luka Okros is hoping that autumn will start from more positive note for the whole industry and he will manage to perform without social distancing in the venues again. Lots of plans are ahead, including a postponed concert in Georgia.
