PM Holds Farewell Meeting With British Ambassador to Georgia Justin McKenzie Smith
Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Georgia Justin McKenzie Smith discussed the partnership and prospects for deepening cooperation between the two countries during a farewell meeting that was held at the Administration of the Government.
The parties discussed the main issues pertaining to Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration and stressed the role of the United Kingdom in this process.
Successful cooperation between the countries in developing strategic communication capabilities and combating disinformation in Georgia was noted during the meeting.
Justin McKenzie Smith reaffirmed the United Kingdom's unwavering support for Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The head of the government thanked the Ambassador of the United Kingdom for his contribution to the deepening of the partnership between the two countries and wished him success in his future endeavors.
Mr. Mark Clayton has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Georgia in succession to Mr. Justin McKenzie Smith, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment.
Mr. Clayton will take up his appointment in August 2020.
Mark Clayton joined the UK Diplomatic Service in 1997.
