PM: Georgia-US Partnership Stands above Party Interests

"The strategic partnership between Georgia and the US stands above all kinds of political and party interests," Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia told journalists when commenting on the approval of the US National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for 2021 by the US Senate.

The PM noted that the cooperation between the United States and Georgia is deepening in areas such as defense, security, democratization, education, trade and economy.

He said that the Georgian government was glad that strategic partners valued the country’s democratization process.

“Of course, a friend of ours from the United States, whether a congressman or a senator, may have some question marks. They, as friends of Georgia, have the right to ask this question, just like we have the right to answer it. You can see that over time these questions are slowly being answered. It is bad that due to political interests, without considering the interests of the country, some people try to make this strategic partnership a part of the political process, which they can not achieve because the strategic partnership between Georgia and the US is above all political and party interests. Everyone understands this, but I am sure that such efforts will continue, however, it will be answered appropriately and adequately by both Georgia and the United States," the Prime Minister said.
