Coronavirus: Georgia Registers 8 New Cases, 5 Recoveries

Friday’s report shows that Georgia has registered 8 new coronavirus cases, while 5 patients have recovered. To date, Georgia has reported 1168 COVID cases. 940 patients have already recovered, and 17 have sadly died.

Marina Ezugbaia, the medical director of Tbilisi Infectious Diseases Hospital, has talked to the reporters about the newly-registered patients and said that 5 of these 8 cases are imported. She also revealed that one patient was infected in Gachiani, one is medical personnel and one has had contact with an individual who had contracted COVID.

Of the 5 imported cases, 2 were the truck drivers. The drivers who test positive for the virus usually enter Georgia from Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia, according to Ezugbaia.
