PM: Euro-Atlantic Integration Necessary for Restoration of Territorial Integrity
"Despite everything that is taking place here now, on this tragic day, despite the accusations and speculations about the fate and future of the country due to private political interests - the personal political interests of specific people - we are managing to deepen our strategic partnership in terms of our core strategic directions. These are, of course, NATO, the Euro-Atlantic integration of the country, the United States, and the European Union," Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia stated in response to a journalist's question regarding Congressman Adam Kinzinger's statement on Georgia's NATO membership.
The head of the government noted that nothing threatens the relations between Georgia and its strategic partners, and Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration and peaceful development are necessary conditions for the restoration of the country's territorial integrity.
"Regardless of the kind of speculation that anyone might continue to engage in, nothing threatens the relations between Georgia and our strategic partners. On the contrary, in recent years, this relationship has become of a kind it has never been before, and such statements are the result of precisely this. Today, Georgia is completely ready for membership and our partners see this and appreciate it. Of course, this is a process and, of course, we will achieve this goal. We must all understand that Georgia's Euro-Atlantic Integration and Georgia's peaceful development are necessary conditions for the restoration of the country's territorial integrity," the Prime Minister noted.
"The time has come for Georgia to become a full member of NATO," US Congressman Adam Kinzinger said at an international online conference Peace and Security in Europe: 12 years of Georgia’s Struggle for De-Occupation.
