Senator Risch: [US] Will Never Recognize Russia’s Illegal Occupation of Georgia

The United States remains Georgia’s friend and ally and continues to support Georgia's sovereignty and transition to democracy, recapitulated US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman, Jim Risch, a Republican Senator from Idaho who remarked on the 12^th anniversary of the Russo-Georgian war on social media.

As the Senator noted in his tweet, Abkhazia and South Ossetia remain occupied by the Russian forces.

"Twelve years after Russia invaded Georgia’s sovereign territory, Abkhazia and South Ossetia are still occupied. The U.S. continues to support Georgia's sovereignty and transition to democracy and will never recognize Russia's illegal occupation of Georgia", wrote Senator Risch.
