EU High Representative Josep Borell: Georgia Demonstrates Democratic Strength
Georgia demonstrates democratic strength, economic development, therefore we should welcome the cooperation of this parliament with the Georgian parliament which will be elected in October, – Josep Borell, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in a debate in the European Parliament said, while reviewing the report on the implementation of the EU Association Agreement with Georgia.
“Nor should we be ashamed to remind Georgia of the need to fully implement the reform program. Problems on their borders should not be an argument not to solve problems that only the Georgian people can solve. The European Union will continue to support Georgia today and always through the Association Agreement,” affirmed the High Representative.
“Now is a decisive and important time for Georgia. Georgia must show the maturity of democracy. I came to Georgia at a difficult time, more difficult than now. Georgia demonstrates democratic strength, economic development, therefore we should welcome the cooperation of this Parliament with the Parliament of Georgia which will be elected in October. We should also not be ashamed to remind Georgia that it is necessary to fully implement the reform agenda. Problems at their borders should not be an argument not to solve problems that only the Georgian people can solve. The European Union will continue to support Georgia today and any time through the Association Agreement”, stated Borell.
