IRI Survey: 36% of Respondents Support Georgian Dream, 15% National Movement

Prior to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Georgia, the International Republican Institute (IRI) has published a new survey, which shows that 36% of respondents support the Georgian Dream party and 15% support the National Movement.

In particular, to the question “If parliamentary elections were held this coming Sunday, for which party, if any, would you vote?” 36% named Georgian Dream and 15% named the National Movement.

The reaining results were as follows: European Georgia - Free Democrats 4%, For New Georgia - Strategy Agmashenebeli 4%, Alliance of Patriots 4%, Labor Party 3%.

23% of voters said they did not know. As for other parties, Civil Movement was named by 2%, Lelo for Georgia 2%, Girchi 2%, Democratic Movement - United Georgia 1%, other parties 2%, none - 3%.

In addition, 16% named the National Movement as a viable alternative to the parties in parliament, 9% named Lelo for Georgia and 9% named For New Georgia - Strategy Aghmashenebeli.

56% of IRI respondents think that no such party exists, 24% did not have an answer to this question, and 20% thinks that such a political alternative exists. 5% named European Georgia and 5% named Civil Movement.

The survey was conducted by the Institute of Polling and Marketing between August 4 - 21, through face-to-face interviews with 1500 citizens. The survey was funded by the US Agency for International Development. The margin of error does not exceed plus or minus 2.5%.

Elections are scheduled to be held in Georgia on 31 October 2020 to elect the 150 members of Parliament.
