PM: Most Important Thing for Us is to Present Georgia's Role in Black Sea Security
"The most important thing for us is to present Georgia's function, a new role in the Black Sea security, which is a window of opportunity for us to deepen our relations with NATO," Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said at a joint news conference after meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
As the head of the government pointed out, during the meeting the sides agreed that last year there was very dynamic cooperation between NATO and Georgia on a practical level, including in the field of exercises.
"2019 was a particularly wonderful year in this context. At the same time, we reaffirm our readiness to pursue reforms in various directions, which is very important. Cooperation between NATO and Georgia should be deepened. The most important part for us is to present Georgia's function, a new role in the field of Black Sea security. This is a window of opportunity for us to deepen our relationship with NATO.
"At the same time, the upcoming elections in Georgia are very important. Georgia confirms that it will do its utmost to hold free and fair elections. This will be another step towards the consolidation of the country and further steps will be to deepen relations with NATO in the political dimension," said Giorgi Gakharia.
