Georgia-Germany-Russia Dialogue Plan not Actively Pursued
In response to a Free Democrats' question, Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili said he has no information about any concrete steps taken by his predecessor Maia Panjikidze concerning the creation of a Georgia-Germany-Russia dialogue format.
Free Democrats' party-leader, Irakli Alasania, considers the creation of a Georgia-Germany-Russia dialogue format relevant, as Germany could play a constructive role in settling the Georgian-Russian conflict. According to Alasania, former Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze started the initiative, however, her work was not continued.
Kvirikashvili said that the current format with Russia will make it possible to achieve progress providing there is a political will from Russia. “However, any constructive role, which a third party could play in this process would be appreciated.”
According to the Minister, he is not informed about any concrete steps taken or opinions expressed in this regard by representatives of German business communities.
"Germany is a very important country. Generally, its involvement in Georgia’s European integration process is of paramount importance, and we would welcome any constructive role, which any third party could play in this process, if this can impact political decisions first of all in Moscow," the Minister said.
