Mutual Accusations about Provocations Expected on Election Day

The Executive Secretary of the ruling party Georgian Dream, Irakli Kobakhidze, held a special pre-election briefing today, where he said that the so-called radical opposition is planning various provocations on election day, including spreading false accusations and committing violent acts.

Opposition groups have denied the allegations. As stated by Khatia Dekanoidze, the UNM majoritarian candidate, Kobakhidze's briefing indicates that the 'Georgian Dream' is in a panic before the elections.

As Kobakhidze explained to reporters today, based on the information obtained by the ruling team, the opposition is planning several types of delays on election day, including a large number of attempts by their observers to file artificial complaints on the same issue, also damaging infrastructure, removal of ballot papers from polling stations, etc.

When asked from whom the ruling party had obtained this information, Kobakhidze pointed to United National Movement members.

In turn, opposition representatives claim that Kobakhidze's accusations are exactly what 'Georgian Dream' is planning on election day.

"All his statements are an expression of the panic that the Georgian Dream has two days before the elections," said Khatia Dekanoidze.

For the record, Opposition United National Movement Party (UNM) and its supporters are planning to hold a mass protest rally in front of the parliament building on election day, October 31.
