Georgian TV Channels Show Preliminary Election Results
The Georgian TV channels: ‘Imedi’, ‘Formula’, ‘Mtavari Arkhi’, and ‘Rustavi 2’, have televised the preliminary poll results of the country’s parliamentary elections. Quite interestingly, the results differ even though the Georgian Dream Party seems to be the leader according to all 4 polls.
41% voted for the Georgian Dream, 33% chose the United National Movement, 5 % went for the European Georgia, and 4% voted for Lelo party, according to Mtavari Arkhi.
The exit poll of Mtavari Arkhi (with -/+3% correctness) was conducted by IPSOS S.A international company. Three thousand Georgians in different parts of the country were the respondents of the exit poll which reflects the situation for 17:00.
46% of voters polled the Georgian Dream party, 28% voted for the United National Movement, 5% opted for the European Georgia, and 3% polled Lelo, according to Formula.
Formula’s exit poll was done by Edison Research, showing the situation as it was for 16:00. More than half of the respondents asked to tell who they had voted for, refused to answer, according to Formula.
The Georgian Dream party got 55% of the votes, while the United National Movement received 23%, the European Georgia 3%, and Lelo 3% of the overall votes, according to Imedi.
An American company Public Opinion Strategies was responsible for conducting Imedi’s polls. Showing the election situation for 18:00, it is not known how many people took part in this particular research, or how many refused to answer.
The Georgian dream is the leader of the polls with 52% of the votes, the United National Movement lags behind with 25%, the European Georgia with 4.2%, and Lelo with 2.6% of the votes, according to Rustavi 2.
Rustavi 2 published the polls, as done by the British company Survation. The TV Channel has reported that in 120 election districts more than 10,000 people were asked to reveal who they had polled for. However, it has not been made clear how many of these citizens opted not participating in the research. The correctness of the research is +/-1.2%, according to Rustavi 2’s website.
The poll stations closed at 8:00 PM in Georgia. The ballot counting is currently in process.
