Opposition Parties Refuse to Enter Parliament
The United National Movement and other opposition parties are refusing to enter Parliament or to recognize the election results.
"After the population saw that there were no elections in the country, nor even a sign of elections, of course, we, the united opposition, have made the decision not to enter Parliament. Our demand remains unchanged: new elections in a free environment," said Nika Melia, one of the leaders of the UNM.
Over the past two days, a number of opposition parties have said they do not intend to enter parliament, as the election was held amid significant irregularities. Among these parties are: "UNM-Power is in Unity," "European Georgia," "Lelo", "Alliance of Patriots," "Labor Party," "Girchi," "Strategy Builder" and "Aleko Elisashvili - Citizens."
On the second day after the elections, a protest rally was organized by the opposition, first in front of Parliament and then in front of Bidzina Ivanishvili's residence, demanding the annulment of the election results. Another rally is scheduled for Sunday, November 8th.
