Tskhinvali De-Facto Government Closes Border for New Year
The de-facto government of the occupied Tskhinvali Region (South Ossetia) decided to close the border during December 31st and January 1st.
Local news agency Sputnik Ossetia says the head of the state security committee, Eduard Jabiev, made the statement about the decision during a discussion with the de-facto President, Leonid Tibilov.
“According to our plan, crossing the border from December 31st till January 1st will be banned,” Jabiev declared.
Leonid Tibilov stated that the measures have been taken for the holidays to prevent any provocations from ISIS fighters, which are in Georgia.
The de-facto leadership, prior to the decision, announced that some ISIS members are located in Georgia and provocations could be expected on the border during the holidays.
