UK’s Economist includes Georgia on its Top 5 Book Publisher List

TBILISI – Major UK publication the Economist has listed Georgia on its list of top five countries with most published books in 2013.

The table uploaded on the Economist’s Facebook page shows that Georgia published placed fifth on the list, with 1,547 new titles published, per one million people in 2013. Georgia’s estimated population in 2013 was 4.484 million, with a total of 6,937 titles published during that time.

The UK placed first on the list with 2,875 titles per million people, or 184,000 total books published for an estimated overall population of 64.1 million.

Slovenia, Taiwan and Spain were also included on the Economist’s list of the world’s top five publishers.
