Georgia to Welcome New UK Ambassador in August

LONDON – The UK Government’s official Website announced that Justin McKenzie Smith would be appointed ambassador to Georgia in late August.

Smith is currently the Deputy Head of the Mission and Director for Trade and Investment at the British Embassy in Mexico City.

The new Ambassador joined the UK’s Diplomatic Service in 1994 and worked as a Second Secretary in the British Embassy in Moscow in 1996-1999. From 2008 to 2011, he served as deputy director for UK relations with Russia, the South Caucasus and Central Asia in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).

Smith also worked as First Secretary and Spokesperson for the UK Mission to the United Nations in New York and as a ministerial press officer and Head of Human Rights Policy Department at FCO.
