Ministry of Culture Announces Contest for Projects to Participate in Venice Biennale
TBILISI-At a press conference held on November 8, at the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia announced a contest for projects to participate in the 57th Venice Biennale.
Known as one of the most prestigious art exhibitions in the world, the Venice Biennale will start on May 17, 2017, and continue until November 26. The theme of the biennale this year is VIVA ARTE VIVA with curator Christine Macel.
“Viva Arte Vivais a Biennale designed with the artists, by the artists and for the artists. It deals with the forms they propose, the questions they pose, the practices they develop and the forms of life they choose. Discoveries and Rediscoveries will display works belonging to different generations of artists, while exploring specific cultural areas such as Latin America, Asia and The Middle East and paying particular attention to Europe up to its eastern boundaries and to Russia,” Marcel said.
The Georgian pavilion will consist of an 115sq.m space in the Artiglierie building on the Arsenale territory.
The Ministry of Culture says that the total funding for the winning project of the announced contest is 160,000 GEL. Project proposals must be received by December 15. The winners will be announced a maximum of 10 working days following that date.
