Georgia's Leaders Attend NATO-GEO Joint Drills
KRTSANISI, Georgia – Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and President Giorgi Margvelashvili visited joint military exercise of the North-Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and Georgia, underway in the Joint Training and Evaluation Center (JTEC) of Krtsanisi near Tbilisi.
The leaders met with the NATO and Georgian military staff on Thursday and underlined the importance of the drills.
Also, Georgian officials responded to the recent statement of Russia’s Foreign Ministry, which stated few days ago that NATO-Georgia joint drills carries threats for the stability and peace of the region.
“We aim to enhance Georgia’s self-defensive capacity and train the Georgian army according to NATO’s standards. NATO-Georgia cooperation is aimed at regional peace and stability,” the PM stated.
He also thanked the representatives of the NATO 11 allies and 2 partner countries, which also participate in the exercise.
While delivering speech, President Margvelashvili underlined that the current military exercise serves the global security and does not create any threat to the regional stability.
“Strengthening of our self-defense is not targeted against anyone but aims to bring more stability and peace. Georgian servicemen have proved this for years while participating in various peacekeeping missions which ensures global security,” he said.
The military exercise is underway from November 10 to November 20 and involves 350 international personnel from 13 foreign countries.
This is the first NATO-Georgia joint multinational brigade-level, Computer Assisted, Command Post exercise, led by Georgia’s Armed Forces.
