Prima Ballerina to Introduce New Children's Ballet

The premiere of a new children’s ballet, Tsuna and Tsrutsuna, is to be held next Friday, November 25. The ballet was created by Prima Ballerina Nina Ananiashvili.

"The idea of creating Tsuna and Tsrutsuna was inspired by my daughter, Elene, for whom it is one of the most beloved Georgian cartoons."

The adventure of the two mice, first written as a cartoon in 1961 by Director Arkadi Khintibidze,  remains a fascinating story for most children even today.

Nina contacted distinguished Georgian composer Meri Davitashvili, who created the original music for the cartoon, for permission to use it and asked composer Zurab Nadareishvili to turn it into a ballet libretto.

Tsuna and Tsrutsuna is based on the comedy "You Will Not Be Able to See What You Saw Before" by Avksenty Tsagareli.

"By making a ballet, I wanted to revitalize the story on which many of us were brought up- to keep it interesting for future generations," Nina said. "The premiere is dedicated to those who created this immortal cartoon and who gifted numerous colorful memories to so many children."
