Georgia’s New Cabinet Appointed
TBILISI – Georgia’s new government has officially started to carry out its official duties from today, after the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili signed a Resolution on the Appointment of Ministers of Georgia.
The Parliament of Georgia approved the renewed Cabinet, presented by Kvirikashvili after debates on November 26.
110 Members (MPs) of the 150 seat Parliament voted in favor of the new Government while 19 opposition MPs voted against it.
According to Georgian legislation, votes from more than a half of all MPs are enough for the government to be approved.
After the parliament approved the new Cabinet, Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili issued a decree appointing Giorgi Kvirikashvili as the Prime Minister of Georgia.
The final step was the PM’s decree, after which the new Ministers have officially took power.
The new cabinet consists of 18 Ministers. There are three new names in the Cabinet, while the Economics Minister was moved to the Finance Ministry.
Georgia will no longer have a Minister of Diaspora, as the Ministry was abolished and will function as a separate department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
