Border Police Department Has New Chief
TBILISI - Minister of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia, Giorgi Mghebrishvili appointed Dato Nikoleishvili as the new Head of the Border Police Department. The Minister presented Nikoleishvili to the personnel on Monday and congratulated him on his appointment.
"The most important thing for me is that this person thinks about the state and makes all decisions solely on these grounds," he said and underlined that Nikoleishvili was a qualified person.
Mghebrishvili stated that the Ministry planed various reforms in the direction of Border Police. In particular, MIA plans to modernize all spheres of the border police, equip the border with the latest technics in the direction of land border protection, coast guard and aviation in compliance with European standards.
“We create police of the 21st century… One of my major goals includes creation of the new system for career development and trainings of the border police officers that will enable us to have professional staff at the Border Police,” Mghebrishvili stated and expressed hope that border police would undergo quick development soon.
Newly appointed Head of the Border Police thanked the Minister for his trust and promised to do his best to implement all planned reforms and establish the Border Police Department as the successful structure compatible to modern standards.
