Georgian PM Congratulates Japanese People on Emperor's Birthday

TBILISI – Georgia’s Prime Minister, Giorgi Kvirikashvili attended an official event on Monday, organized by the Japanese Embassy in Georgia, dedicated to the birthday of the Emperor.

The reception was attended by officials of the executive and legislative authorities of Georgia, diplomatic corps, representatives of the international community and civil society.

Kvirikashvili congratulated the Japanese people on the national jubilee and spoke about the friendly relations between Georgia and Japan.

“In the modern world, our countries are bonded with fundamental values: democracy, freedom, human rights and rule of law. The unshaken position of the Japanese government towards the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia is of tremendous importance to us,” the PM stated.

He added that cooperation of the two countries in trade, economy, arts and culture, education and tourism was steadily developing.

"In 2017, we will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Japan. A number of events have been planned both in Georgia and Japan to mark the event,” said Kvirikashvili and thanked the Japanese Ambassador to Georgia, Toshio Kaitani, for deepening relations between the two countries.

While delivering speech, Ambassador Kaitani, spoke about friendship and shared values of Georgia and Japan.

"Japan continues to support Georgia from the Asia-Pacific. We would like to congratulate you on the democratic elections, and with the formation of a new Government and Parliament in Georgia. We are delighted that the relations of Georgia with the European Union are progressing well, especially towards visa-liberalization, with closer ties with NATO and other countries," noted the Ambassador.

On behalf of the Emperor of Japan, Toshio Kaitani wished prosperity to the Georgian people and wished further development of ties between the two countries.
