Medal of Honor Awarded to Katie Melua

TBILISI - The President of Georgia awarded UK-based Georgian singer Katie Melua with the medal of honour last night. Giorgi Abashishvili, Head of the President’s Administration of Georgia, delivered the award during Melua’s concert at Tbilisi Opera House yesterday, recognizing the singer-songwriter’s outstanding contribution to the cause of promoting Georgian culture abroad, and for her artistic achievements.

Melua, who visited Georgia as the last stop on her European tour, performed compositions from her “In Winter” album, released earlier this year - the first collaboration with the Gori Women’s Choir - along with older work.

“This is something very serious, I wholeheartedly thank you! I love you all! I hope to have a chance to come back to Georgia soon  with more concerts,” Katie Melua said after receiving the award.
