New Year Village Opens in Dedaena Park
TBILISI - Tbilisi City Hall has invited the entire capital to the newly opened "New Year Village" in Dedaena Park, which has been transformed for Christmas and New Year into a bright, cheerful and entertaining place for the whole family.
Visitors can stroll through tunnels of flowers and admire the lights, decorations, and living figurines throughout the park. The center of the village hosts a huge Christmas tree, sure to attract visitors with its gorgeous ornaments. Brightly colored stalls offer sweets, decorations, and homemade holiday crafts. There's also a decidated art space, special sports facilities for old and young alike.
Mayor Narmania officially opened the village on December 25 and attended a concert headlined by renowned singer Vakhtang Kakhidze.
The mayor was sure to point out that not only Dedaena Park, but the whole capital was decorated for New Year, including the renovated Aghmashenebeli Avenue, where various festivities are underway, and Rose Revolution Square, where a "gala concert" will be held on New Year's Eve. Meanwhile, a special holiday train for children has been set up on the pedestrianized section of Aghmashenebeli, operated by none other than Santa Claus himself. New Year exhibition sale has been arranged in each cabin of the train, where the guests can buy souvenirs and sweets.
The opening concert was followed by a variety of music and dance performances. Radio Kubrick broadcast live from the park, with Georgian DJs performing after dark.
New Year festivities will continue throughout the capital until January 2.
