Georgia and China to Enhance Cooperation

The Georgian government and CEFC China Energy Company Limited signed a memorandum of understanding yesterday.

Within the framework of the One Belt, One Road project, the memorandum aims at promoting the potential of the New Silk Road through joint initiatives.

The CEFC China Energy Company Limited is considering acquisition of 75% of the Poti Free Industrial Zone, planning to develop it according to some of the best practices of the industrial zones in China.It also plans to attract investments for the modern technology, warehouse management and logistics development.

As a leading international company specializing in energy, finances, commerce, trade, and logistics, CEFC China Energy Company Limited is believed to bring more development possibilities to the Poti Free Industrial Zone and to the strengthening of Georgia’s position as a transport and logistical hub. 

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Giorgi Gakharia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and Zhang Yuzhuo, CEO China Energy Company Limited. The signing ceremony was attended by Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia.
