Georgia to Host 2017 Junior Eurovision Contest

The 15th Junior Eurovision song contest will be held in Georgia, according to an announcement during a press conference at the Public Broadcaster’s press center today.

Last year Mariam Mamadashvili scored 239 points and became the winner of the 14th Junior Eurovision song contest last year, bringing victory to Georgia for the third time.

The Public Broadcaster received an offer to host the Eurofestival from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

Ketevan Bochorishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, and Giorgi Chogovadze, Head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration talked about the importance of hosting the event for the country while at the press conference, noting that Eurovision is once again a possibility to promote Georgiaー its history, culture, and potential for tourismーto a wider international audience.

The details for the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song contest will be discussed and finalized during a visit from the EBU delegates to Tbilisi from February 22nd to the 24th.
