EU Ambassador Congratulates Georgia on European Parliament Support
Janos Herman, the EU Ambassador to Georgia, congratulated Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia, on the visa- free travel decision voted in by the European Parliament yesterday.
“Let me start by saying that it is an honor for me to have met Prime Minister Kvrikiashvili today, after the European Parliament vote. I conveyed to him, and I would like to convey to all of you, congratulations from the European Union, to Georgia and all Georgians. It is an outstanding result and it is due to you, due to the work that has been done by Georgia now over years.I would like to mention that it wasn’t just a vote in the European parliament that ended with a positive decision but also, that the overwhelming majority of the parliamentarians voted for it. I calculated myself that 86% of the MPs and all the big political parties in the European Parliament voted in favor. It shows how much respect the European Parliament has for the performance Georgia has shownduring the visa liberalization process.” The EU Ambassador said while addressing to the press after the meeting with Kvrikashvili.
Janos Herman called the EU Parliament’s decision a milestone, and remarked “I’m also very happy that we’re really approaching the end of this journey”.
