Greece Considers Cooperation with Georgia Strategically Important
The Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias paid his first official visit to Georgia. The foreign minister congratulated Georgia on receiving visa free travel to the EU and noted that Greece welcomes Georgia’s integration with the EU.
“I strongly believe that Georgia is a country and a nation that belongs to Europe. We even joked during our meeting that back when we were trying to steal fire from Caucasus, no visas and border control were needed. I’m for open relations between our countries. These relations count thousand years.” Nikos Kotzias said.
“We will try to develop our relations in different spheres: economics, education and science. Strategic relations in various areas mean that we welcome Georgia as a member of European family and of course we would like to share our knowledge and experience.” Kotzias noted.
The Foreign Minister reaffirmed the Greek government’s support of Georgia’s independence, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.
“Co-operation between Georgia and Greece is of strategic importance” - Foreign Minister Kotzias said on a joint press conference held after the meeting with his Georgian colleague, Mikheil Janelidze.
