Demna Gvasalia, Nominated for CFDA Awards

Georgian designer, Demna Gvasalia, of Vetments and Balenciaga fame was nominated in the International Award category for CFDA 2017 Awards according to Vogue. Winner will be announced at the CDFA Award Ceremony on June 5, 2017.

CDFA Fashion Awards are considered the Oscars of the fashion industry, honoring both new and old talent. The event is annually organized and hosted by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, founded in 1962 and comprised of over 500 designers in womenswear, menswear, accessory and jewelry from US. Diane Von Furstenberg, the board chairman of CDFA, announced the nominees for the upcoming awards ceremony yesterday. Some past winners include Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Helmut Lang, and other well-known designers.

Nominations in each category of the CFDA Fashion Awards are submitted by CFDA Fashion Awards Guild and its members, along with leading journalists, fashion retailers, and stylists in the industry.   

CFDA Fashion Awards were founded in 1981.
