UNFPA Regional Director’s Official Visit to Georgia

Ms. Alanna Armitage, from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Regional Director of Eastern Europe and Central Asia Regional will visit Georgia.

This is  Ms. Armitage’s first official visit to Georgia in the role of  Regional Director, during which she will participate in the high-level meeting on Maternal and Newborn and Reproductive Health Priorities in Georgia, meet with the representatives of legislative and executive branches of the Georgian Government, UN Agencies and other partner organizations.

Ms. Armitage will also visit the Kakheti region to participate in the events organized by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia CO within the framework of the third Country Programme for Georgia.

For the past 25 years Ms. Armitage has worked to promote women’s health, development and human rights. She joined UNFPA in 1992, and since then has served in Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Latin America. Prior to joining UNFPA, Ms. Armitage worked for the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the United Nations Development Programme.

Alanna Armitage has been appointed as the Director of UNFPA’s Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia since 2016.
