Israel Launches New Regulations for Georgian Citizens
From today new regulations have been activated for Georgians citizens, stating that Israel will no longer give asylum to Georgians.
Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) reports that due to the fact that Israel included Georgia in the list of Safe Countries, from April 17 there are new regulations for Georgian citizens visiting the country.
Under the regulation, Georgian asylum-seekers’ applications will be discussed in an accelerated manner.
MFA says that necessity of the new regulation was caused by the fact that citizens of Georgia, after being denied asylum in Israel and after the request to leave the state in seven days, illegally stay in the country.
The head of the MFA Consulate Department, Giorgi Tabatadze, said that all Georgians will be denied an asylum in Israel.
“Earlier Georgian asylum-seekers had one week to leave Israel if they received a negative answer, but from now, every Georgian citizen who applies for an asylum will be refused, and their deportation procedures will start immediately,” Tabatadze said.
The head of the MFA Consulate Department says that Georgians have no ground to ask for an asylum to the State of Israel.
