First International Festival of Regional Theatres Held in Georgia

For the first time Georgia is hosting the International Festival of Regional Theatres.

19 Georgian and three international theatre troupes from Italy, Belarus and Poland will present a divers program to audiences from July 15 to 25, in Georgia’s port city, Poti, located in the west of the

country.

Georgian Minister of Culture and Monument Protection Mikheil Giorgadze will attend the festive opening of the first International Festival of the Regional Theatres at 8pm in Poti.

The Regional Theaters Festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection and organized by the Cultural and Educational Foundation named "Today".

Within his visit to the Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti region the Minister of Culture will join Georgian chant and song festival Vlakernoba.

Vlakernoba is celebrating each year on July 15 in Zugdidi in Vlakern’s St. Mary’s Cathedral. On this day the robe of the Blessed Virgin Mary is taken out from Dadiani Palace, where it is kept, allowing believers to touch it during a vigil ceremony.
