Georgia’s National Exams for University Entrants Start Today

Unified National Exams for university entrants were launched this Monday, July 3.

The first exam will test the examinees’ knowledge in both the Georgian Language and Literature.

The National Assessment and Examination Center reports that this year’s exams will be held in a digital format, which means that those taking exams will receive tasks on a computer screen but will continue using paper for writing answers.

22 examination centers are open for the unified national examinations 2017 throughout the country, except the occupied territories. There are ten exam centers in Tbilisi, three in Kutaisi and one in each big city.

The National Assessment and Examination Centre Head, Maia Miminoshvili, says that around 39,000 applicants are taking part in the exams. However, 41,200 applicants were registered initially.

She added that among the entrants, 18 are convicted applicants currently serving time in prison.

“I hope the primary results of the exams will be published by the end of July,” Miminoshvili said.

The national exams will finish on July 27.
