Fatboy Slim to Head Global Gathering Music Festival in Rustavi
Internationally renowned electronic music festival Global Gathering is set to come to Georgia for the first time this September, headlined by ten times MTV Video Music Awards winner, Fatboy Slim.
The festival will take place in the Rustavi International Motorpark on Friday 11th September.
The lineup of other artists has yet to be announced but, judging by the reception the event has so far received on facebook, it is sure to be a sell-out!
Fatboy Slim, also known as Norman Cook, is a 51-year-old English DJ, musician and record producer/mixer.
In his solo career in electronic music he has won ten MTV Video Music Awards and two Brit Awards. His records of the 1990s Better Living Through Chemistry, You've Come a Long Way, Baby and Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars earned him critical acclaim and commercial success.
In his early career he was the bass guitarist in The Housemartins, an English alternative rock band who were active in the 1980s. Many of The Housemartins' lyrics were a mixture of Marxist politics and Christianity, reflecting singer Paul Heaton's beliefs of the time. The band was formed in late 1983 by Paul Heaton (vocals) and Stan Cullimore (guitar), initially as a busking duo. Norman Cook- the future Fatboy Slim- joined them in 1985.
Global Gathering is an annual dance music festival by Angel Festivals Limited which has been running since 2001. Festivals are held in many countries and feature leading electronic music artists from around the globe.
