Georgian Short Film 8 Minutes Wins at Manhattan Short Film Festival
'8 minutes', a Georgian short film, was the winner of the Manhattan Short Film Festival, “after organizers tallied a record number of votes from audiences in over 300 venues worldwide."8 Minutes" won the Gold Medal”, the festival’s official site reports.
The film is a debut of the Siberfilmscompany, which unites young fillmakers Giorgi Gogichaishvili and Dato Abramishvili, screenwriters Mari Bekauri, and Zaza Koshkadze, and Producers Gega Khmaladze and Magda Datuashvili.
'8 minutes' refers to an appocalyptic story, when just eight minutes are enough for the ray of light to vanish, in case the sunlight on earth dissapeears.
The silver medal of the Manhattan Short Film Festival went to the film Viola Franca, directed by Marta Savina, from Italy, and Mare Nostrum directed by Rana Kazkaz and Anas Khalaf, from Syria won the bronze medal.
