German Foreign Minister Says Georgia is on Right Path
Michael Roth, Minister of State for Europe of the Federal Republic of Germany stated that Georgia is moving in a correct direction, during his official visit to Tbilisi.
“Improving bilateral relations and strategic partnership with Georgia is important to us,” he stated.
Michael Roth made the statements during his meeting with Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili on Monday afternoon.
The PM’s Press Office reports that the conversation touched upon the key aspects of the German-Georgian bilateral relations, friendly, diplomatic partnership between the two countries during the span of 25 years, ongoing reforms and relations with the European Union.
Importance of visa-liberalization for Georgian citizens as well as the progress achieved by Georgia, as a leader country of the Eastern Partnership was emphasized as well.
During the meeting attention was paid to the reform of education system and to the importance of sharing German experience in that regard, as well as to the need of deepening the humanitarian and cultural ties between the two countries.
Kvirikashvili thanked Germany for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and stated that Georgia is Germany's reliable partner in the region.
Later in the evening, the German minister met his Georgian counterpart Mikheil Janelidze.
The meeting focused on the dynamics of relations between the two countries, the progress of Georgia's European integration and future prospects, the course of reforms implemented in Georgia, and the results of the German Bundestag elections.
At the meeting Michael Roth noted that in terms of reforms and democratic transformation, Georgia is the leader is in the whole region.
He also added that Germany supports Georgia’s Euro-integration process.
