Minister of Corrections Meets with Japan’s Ambassador to Georgia
Kakha Kakhishvili, Minister of Corrections of Georgia, hosted Tadaharu Uehara, Ambassador of Japan to Georgia, during the meeting held at the Ministry of Corrections today. Kakhishvili congratulated Mr. Uehara with the start of his mission in Georgia, and the parties discussed the possibilities of deepening cooperation between the two countries and sharing of the best practices implemented in the correction systems.
“There are numerous projects realized with not only political, but financial support, from the European government. There are several Japanese corporations represented in Georgia already, and with their assistance, the interest of the Japanese business sector in Georgia’s investment area is growing. In addition to that, the simplified visa regulations assisted in developing people’s diplomacy,” Kakhishvili said. Minister of Corrections of Georgia then spoke about the successful reforms Georgia has implemented in the corrections sphere, helping to bring the country to a leading position in Europe. As the Ministry of Corrections of Georgia reports, Kakha Kakhishvili noted that in order to maintain the fast development in this area, it is crucial to share experience of partner countries.
Tadaharu Uehara, Ambassador of Japan to Georgia, congratulated the Minister on successfully implemented reforms, the Ministry states.
“Relations with countries are based on relations between the people. I’m delighted to have had a chance to meet the Minister. I wish you every success and will do everything from my part to deepen cooperation.” Mr. Uehara said.
