Anaklia to sign Memorandum of Understanding with Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan

A memorandum of understanding will be signed between Anaklia Deep Sea Port and the ports of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, within the framework of Tbilisi Belt and Road Forum; with the signing ceremony to be held at Biltmore Tbilisi hotel this evening. 

The memorandums between the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, Port of Baku, Azerbaijan and Kuryk Port in Kazakhstan will be signed by the Anaklia Development Consortium, Baku Port and Kuryk Port representatives. 

Signing of the memorandums is expected to enhance the trans-Caspian corridor development and create competitive conditions for the transportation of goods, whilst the Anaklia Deep Sea port construction finalizes. 

Representatives of the Romanian Constanza port who arrived on an official visit to Anaklia Development Consortium on November 27, expressed their interest in the Anaklia Deep Sea Port as well, the memorandum of cooperation signing with Constanza port is said to be planned in the near future. 

The Anaklia Deep Sea Port and the Anaklia special economic zone projects will be actively discussed during the Belt and Road Tbilisi Forum, currently held in the capital of Georgia. Within the ongoing forum framework, the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project will be discussed, as one of the major, strategic projects of the Silk Road, and its middle corridor development, as an important crossroad and as a new opportunity for Georgia as a country. The Anaklia Development Consortium representatives held meetings with over 30 company representatives attending the event. 

Anaklia Deep Sea Port construction is planned to officially start on December 20, 2017, the first phase of the port to open and to receive first ships in 2021.
