Mikheil Saakashvili Detained in Kiyiv

Former President of Georgia and ex-governor of Odessa Mikheil Saakashvili has been detained in Kyiv, Georgian media reports. According to the information from Georgian Public Broadcaster, Saakashvili has been detained in isolation, with Special Forces mobilized at the scene and Saakashvili’s supporters gathering there. The prosecutor’s office of Ukraine demands house arrest for the former President of Georgia. 

Saakashvili is suspected of three offences: Article 15 § 1 - criminal attempt; Article 28 § 2- criminal offense committed by a group of persons upon prior conspiracy; and Article 256 § 2 - assistance to members of criminal organizations and covering up of their criminal activity committed by an official.
