Georgia Asks its Citizens to Refrain from Visiting Southeast Turkey

Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) is appealing to Georgian citizens to refrain from traveling to Turkey, specifically the southeastern region, due to the increasing frequency of terrorist acts.

In particular, this notice applies to the cities of Ardahan, Erzurum, Erzincan, Kars, Van, Agri, Bitlis, Bingol, Diyarbakir, Elazig, Erzincan, Tuncel, Igdir, Sirnak, Malatya, Mardin, Musa Dagh, Sanliurfa and Hakkari province.

In case of need, citizens should contact Georgia’s diplomatic and consulate agencies in the Republic of Turkey, the statement released by the Foreign Ministry reads.

Neighboring Georgia in the south, Turkey is the fifth largest source of remittance and one of the main destinations for Georgians seeking work.

Georgians can travel to the country passport-free.
