7 People Injured as Part of Ceiling Collapses at Varketili Metro

Seven people are reported injured as a fragment of the ceiling came down at newly restored Varketili metro station in Tbilisi this morning. Injured passengers are right now being taken away from the scene as the ER and rescue brigades are mobilized.

The Varketili metro station tunnel rehabilitation started at the end of 2016, with new navigation systems, operator booths and turnstiles installed.

As Georgian media reports, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze will be arriving to the Varketili metro station shortly.
