Georgia's Janelidze Assures Visa Liberaliztion with EU Not Under Threat

Georgia's Foreign Minister and Vice-Premier, Mikheil Janelidze, has assured citizens that the nation's visa liberalization with the European Union in not under threat. Though he did urge Georgians to be cautious.

"Today, Georgia’s visa-liberalization is not threatened, but I would like to call on our citizens once again to take care of this great opportunity that many citizens have been able to enjoy. I would, however, like to remind everyone once again that this is a 90-day visa-free travel only. Consequently, it is necessary for everyone to observe the regulations. At this stage, there is no basis for these terms to be revised," Janelidze said.

According to the statistical data released by the European Agency for Assessment (EASO), the number of Georgian citizens seeking asylum in EU member states has seen a 35% increase.
