Gas Prices Set to Increase in Ukraine
The increase in gas price, according to the calculations of the finplan Naftogaz, could be a staggering be 62%, which will impact everyone in the country.
This is allegedly documented in the existing pricing calculations from the company. The Ministry of Finance has conducted an audit of the draft financial plan for Naftogaz of Ukraine.
According to the plan, from April 2018, ‘blue fuel’ may rise in price to 8 thousand hryvnia per thousand cubic meters.
The increase in gas prices for the population is one of the requirements of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The gas should have risen by 17% since January-2018, but the Cabinet did not initiate these changes, and postponed the decision until April.
Earlier, Finance Minister Alexander Danilyuk, on the side-lines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, said that in addition to the IMF, the World Bank also participates in the development of the model of the gas market. Danilyuk expects that as a result of the development of a new settlement mechanism, the tariffs for blue fuel may decrease.
As Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman repeatedly assured, gas prices in any case will not rise until the end of the current heating season, which will end in April. In the event that gas prices change, the increase will be compensated by an increase of social protection and healthcare of the population.
